After VSG help.
I was in the hospital 2 nights. My husband stayed home the day I got home, and the next day. Honestly, I wouldn't have needed him that next day...

I had surgery on a Wed morning, went home early afternoon on Thursday. Hubby was back at work Friday, and our college aged daughter was in and out of the house all day. I was fine on my own, we had plenty of protein stuff stocked for me, and the first few days were just a lot of sipping to stay hydrated, and coping with mild to moderate pain. Nothing that I needed a carer for.

I had mine during the summer when school was out. My son was 4 at the time. At that time he was a rambunctious boy who liked to wrestle and climb on mom. He would come in and just jump on me for a hug. If he had accidentally hit me or kicked me I would have fallen out, lol. So I sent him to the grandparents for a week. Your daughter is older and understands to be kind to mom's stomach.
I didn't need the pain pills long at all (2 days if I remember correctly). I was alert and mobile. I cleaned the house, did laundry, sipped, sat. The hubby worked at night and I was good solo.
Congrats to you!!
I didn't need any help after surgery. What might help is to get some things done b4 surgery, like food shopping, laundry, etc so when you get home you can just relax & concentrate on recovery.

Hi:
I didn't need anyone really. I slept a lot and walked in between. My husband took off three days when I got home. I would have been ok if he was just there the first day. Without him, I would have walked more. If you're child is very young/not self-sufficient/ and has to be supervised - you need your husband. No way around that. You can't lift that much weight.
I think the VSG is an easier recovery from what people have said in my support group.
Hopefully your surgery will go great and your recovery will be easy shmeasy..
