this I did not witness, but I would have certainly spoke up to this as I am five years sober myself.

so,by your own admission, you did not witness her being a ****but you felt OK to try to be the forum nanny because, obviously,we were being mean to her and caused her to deactivate, and we just didn't understand how sometimes ppl need someone to hold their hands?

is that bout right?

Oh geez. It's unreasonable to expect someone to have read EVERY interaction that happens on this site. When people told stories of the deactivated member's flaws, Rachel B. admitted that behavior was wrong. And even after that, you decided to bully Rachel B because she made a mistake and owned up to it?

Is that about right?

is it unreasonable to expect ppl to hold their comments until/ unless they HAVE read every comment on a thread they are referencing?

i got called out for doing that very thing, reading a thread through today, but posting on it the next day without reading the newly added posts.

As it has already been stated, no one is at fault. So no fingers need be pointed or hackles raised. Her alleged dig was only a supposition as to how 'hags' got their titles. I too wonder about that myself... However, my point was to try to encourage folks to take a little breath and realize that what you read may not be meant the way your read it. Or did not the 'walk out' mean to show that we all stand to lose out of precious knowledge and support when someone walks away?

Search "hag" in the forums and you will find the whole story.

Hi Cathy:

As a newbie - I had no idea that there was even a "hag story." I also didn't see the sobriety comment and I read this most every day. When I joined, I didn't go back and read everything from the beginning. I didn't think I needed to but I guess I did. My bad.

I guess I'm at a small disadvantage because I'm not a vet. However, I truly believe that everyone, and I mean everyone, should be respectful and kind. This site means a lot to many who come here seeking information, guidance, and camaraderie. It would be a shame to lose the "greatness" that we have here because of this incident.

I didn't know the origins of the hag story, either. I first found out in the post I linked to, which was on Jan 19 this year. I remembered reading it so posted it here for Rachel's info. Despite my membership date, I've only been an active member here for about a year and I had no idea how the "hag tags" originated until January.

I did not see the sobriety comment, either so cannot address it. I abhor drama as well, and I try very hard to avoid discussions here that I feel are headed into that direction. I'm a "shake my head and move on" kinda gal. I have enough drama in my life, lol.

That is incorrect. Her dig was at a member whose sobriety she mocked, as previously stated. The hag story is pretty well known, and even when we repeat it, it's not at all a sore point.

I'm new and I didn't know the story. No one should make a dig at anyone's struggles.

I was afraid that was what happened when I saw her deactivated. I hate that, we had the same surgery date and really hit it off. I'm very sad

I'm incredibly saddened as well. And I have no way to contact her.
