Bloating - 3 weeks out
I'm 3 weeks out from VSG and feel great, with one exception. I am so bloated that I had to go out and buy bigger undergarments and my fat pants barely fit around my stomach. I've tried Gas X, but doesn't seem to help and I'm not constipated. I haven't even eaten anything yet this morning and I feel like I am pregnant. Anyone else have this and ANY suggestions on how to remedy this? It's very, very uncomfortable.
The gas is from the surgery - not your GI tract. The best way to get it to dissipate is to walk as much as possible.

This pain only started a week ago. I never had a problem with the gas at the beginning and I walk 3 miles a day.
Are you walking all at once? Or splitting it up throughout the day?
Ask your surgeon perhaps.

I left a message yesterday to have my dr.'s office call me - apparently no rush on their part. I eat a small yogurt for breakfast. But today, I hadn't even had anything to eat and I was close to looking 6 mos. pregnant! I didn't have any gas buildup after surgery. So strange.
So now, when I go back to the timing of being bloated, I'm thinking it is the Premier Protein shakes causing the problem. Which makes be sad because I love them. I had about 2 ounces and within 30 minutes I was bloated back to 6 mos pregnant!
It's just such a great way to get protein in during the early stages. I'm going to buy some Muscle Milk which is lactose free to see if that cures the problem. I do eat a lot of greek yogurt, but I read that they it has very little lactose because it is strained so many time.
Guess it's time to do the bloat tests!
I couldn't tolerate protein shakes after surgery, so used unflavored protein powder to supplement soups. I would blend bean, lentil, beef vegetable, chili, whatever soup was low in fat and sugars (and no noodles or rice) with some unflavored protein powder and thin them so I could drink them, about a half a cup every 3 hours. I never had any trouble with getting all my protein in and it all tasted pretty good! :)
