Did anyone NOT vomit?
I prepared myself to vomit at least once so far, but I've been 10 days out of surgery and I started eating soft foods last night and I have had no trouble. The day after surgery I felt nauseous a couple of times, but I didn't ever vomit. I feel like I'm an anomaly, but I'll take it if it means I don't throw up.

I had the great fun of foamies one time when the phone range and I had just taken a bite. I immediately swallowed without thinking and an hour of hacking up foam was the result. No Linda Blair action though.

Geez, Erin, what a horrible experience.
It was. I thought I had broken myself by getting the surgery (stupid hormones!). It was about every 1-2 hours consistently. My surgeon said it happens sometimes and it's "mechanical", a response to the staple line in the stomach. They gave me Zofran, Phengren and the patch behind my ear but nothing made it better. At least the Phengren wiped me out so I could sleep.

I was miserable because I was nauseated but once the anesthesia wore off it was gone. I can't even imagine!!

When I was on vacay I ate some Ben & Jerry's ice cream and vomited. Ice cream grosses me out now. The other night when I ate cottage cheese after drinking a lot of water, foamies.

I have yet to vomit. I have eaten and felt sick though. It seems like no matter how little the bite is, or how slow I eat, I just feel blah after eating. I sort of wish I didn't have to eat at all :( It's such a chore now.
I didn't vomit after surgery thanks to the strong anti-nausea meds I asked for. Then I didn't vomit at all for months. I only had trouble when I over-eat which doesn't happen often.
I was pleasantly surprised that I had so little trouble with my tummy.
best wishes,
Carol
