Need some help with cold remedies

Hi Everyone:

I have an awful cold. Came on quickly. Woke up yesterday with the sore throat and cough.

The cough kept me up all last night. Gosh, I hate that the most!

I'm hesitant about what to take. I took Tylenol for my headache but what else can help me out?

Any info would be appreciated. All I want to do is sleep!

Hi Jan,

Sorry to hear you are sick.....Call your surgeon's office and get their advice. They are the best source.  I didn't have VSG but got sick a few weeks after my RNY and did the following.

- Mucinex anti cough: works the same as before, but hard to swallow.  Feels like it gets "stuck" going down.  Takes approx 8 oz of water to make it feel like it's going down.
- Nyquil:  Knocks me out much faster than before!  Completely stops my nighttime cough.
- Tylenol: Seems to fix my sore throat even faster.

AGAIN, call your surgeon and get his/her advice to be safe.  Feel better soon.

I take Tylenol Cold Max (I think that is what it's called, Daytime or Nighttime formula) and I love that Chloraseptic Spray that numbs your throat (the green one)

and Eucalyptus Oil in my diffuser... oh and old school Vicks Vapor Rub (the Puffs Tissues that have it built in too)

I have a plug in Vicks diffuser warms little Vicks pads I love it.

Funny you say that, my Mom always put Vicks vapor rub on my chest as a kid and that's just what I did!

I still do for my kids as well and the bottom of the feet with socks.. (not sure if the feet work but mom did it so I follow suit lol)
