I've just started the process toward VSG !!! I'm excited and wondering if anyone was familiar with the process using Tricare !!

I used Tricare, but it was as a secondary insurance, so they followed along and paid what my main insurance didn't cover. You have to call and see if they cover the type of surgery you want to have.

This may or may not be helpful: TRICARE.

Generally speaking the issue isn't the insurance company it's the policy your employer purchased that determines eligibility for WLS.

Your surgeons office might be the best place to find out the requirements of your plan.

TRICARE is not an insurance policy; it is a medical benefit for military, military families, and military retirees, so it is quite a different kettle of fish. Members are also subject to something known as ROFR, which is Right of First Refusal, in which nearby military hospitals may mandate a patient goes there for care for the care to be covered.
