Norovirus a week before surgery?

The Norovirus is running rampant in my area of the world (enough that the schools are shutting down) and I haven't been hit (and hopefully won't), but if I do in the next week, what would happen to my surgery? I'm scheduled for Monday February 20th.

I was told my surgery would be postponed if any sign of a fever, cold or flu. The anesthesia risk increases, and your body needs to be strong and healthy for surgery. I actually wore a face mask around my office the week before my surgery since everyone was sick. I know I looked silly and it was pretty uncomfortable, but I did not care at all. I was not going to take any chances! I drank lots of hot tea and washed my hands and used hand sanitizer obsessively. It worked. You might want to do that too. :) Also, your immune system can be weakened from the liquid diet a few days before, so you really want to take as many precautions as possible to keep yourself in good health. Good luck!

Norovirus is a horrible... I have had it. Obviously there are degrees to severity but I would think if you were actively sick with anything they would postpone it.

I didn't get it before surgery, but four weeks post op and it hit me hard. I was so so sick last week. My poor little tummy took a beating. Take your vitamins before surgery. Vitamin C twice a day and plenty of water. Good luck!
