Happy Tuesday!  It's going to be warm enough here that I plan to wear shorts to class.  In February.  WTF!  When I go out to run shortly, I'll be in capris and a LS heatgear shirt, because it's not QUITE warm enough yet for shorts and a t-shirt, but it'll almost be in the 70s later today.  Craziness.

I've got 2 weeks until my plastics consult.  My biggest fear is that the surgeon will tell me "yeah, you're nowhere near ready, come back when you've lost 50 more pounds."  Ugh.

1: protein shake
2: leftover chicken from last night
3: leftover mexican casserole from a few nights ago

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: running and yoga for stretching

How about you?  Have any exciting plans (or non-exciting plans) for Tuesday?  My exciting plan is that I'm going to my local Democratic Central Committee meeting tonight.  Yay!

Good morning!  It's going to be 74 degrees here today too.  Gorgeous day!

No plans today except work then gym then home. Very exciting weekday life I lead.

B: 4 oz cottage cheese and turkey sausage patty

L: Crack Slaw! (I made it this morning with turkey meat.  If you want to know the recipe, google crack slaw and the recipe I used was on Mandyjo.com except I used turkey meat and halved the recipe.)

S: Boars head turkey meat and cheese slice

D: 4 oz hamburger patty with sauteed mushrooms and onions and maybe a salad or some brussel sprouts on the side

Gym tonight! Goal with my stepson is 4 times between Monday - Friday.  One down, three to go!

I could use some weekday "excitement" like yours right now.  :)  I'm actually excited that I'll be home from 1:30-6:30 today!  First weekday in quite some time where I won't be living at school.

I'm  jealous of all your weather.  Boston is having snow turning to freezing rain and then rain.  I'm bundled up in layers of clothing, and wishing it were 70!

I made a pulled chicken yesterday that's even better than the pulled pork I'd made in the past. yum.  I also cooked crack slaw and my cheeseburger pie - two of my favorites.  today I'm making a new recipe for a taco dish that is taco meat and cheese over spaghetti squash.  I think it'll be good, too.

I'm still having terrible cravings for junk food, especially sweets.  I try to take a family member to the food store with me, for fear I'll buy a box of cookies, and eat them in the car before I get home! (I did this about a week ago!)  This is pre-weight-loss behavior, and it worries me.  I know it has to do with stress and my deep concern for the suffering of others. Sometimes, I just need a break from the discomfort, and  I need to numb those feelings, and food and wine both do this, but they are not healthy alternatives.  I continue to use my Spanish learning and my upcoming trip to spain as a diversion.  I'm struggling thru, and every day on plan is a victory.

breakfast - salmon

lunch - cheeseburger pie

dinner - taco casserole

snack - crack slaw or nuts

enjoy the nice weather, and keep to plan!  You deserve health!

I hear you on that third paragraph, Carol.  I also try to never go to the store by myself these days, because I know I'll make bad choices.  Between the state of the country and my bereavement group... yeah.  It's hard to fight the compulsion not to get a pint of ice cream on the way home.  :/  I started seeing my therapist again last week, and I'm hoping that will help with everything.

Running helps me a bit too, focusing on my half marathon goal, but sometimes that's complicated because I've been having these weird horrible cramping problems during the week I ovulate.  ARGH.

Hang in there.  For me it helps to try to find ways I can make a difference in my community.  Even then, the desire to make a difference is at odds with the amount of time I have to do so, and there's such a thing as "resistance fatigue."  :/

Thanks for your kind words, Gwen.  Its good to find that i'm not alone in this compulsion.  I think you're running may serve the same role as my Spanish studies do in giving me a focus that takes me out of the focus on the state of the world and other problems.

We'll hang in there.  This too shall pass.

best wishes,

Carol

YAY Crack Slaw! :-)  it's so good!

Sorry you are having such bad cravings lately.  Two of the best things I use to fight cravings is exercise and meditation on healthy living, my goals, fitness, etc.  I like to take a bath and listen to podcasts about things that support my goals and put me in the right frame of mind. Or if I know I am really craving something or just in the mood to binge and if I go home I will go crazy, I will instead go to the mall and walk around or go to Barnes & Noble, have a coffee and read magazines.  Being in the right mindset and putting good  information in my brain seems to push out the cravings.

Thanks for your kind words.  I do meditate, and find it helpful, and your diversionary suggestions sound like good ideas.  I'm sure things will get better.  Someone asked Gandhi how he kept fighting for Indian independence for all those years, and he responded that good always wins in the end.  I think that has to be my new mantra.

best wishes,
Carol

Holy moly -- my alarm didn't go off, so I had an "exciting" morning running around like a crazy woman.  I don't get my 30 minutes or so to wake up at my desk this morning -- bah!  I've been super tired lately, so I guess the extra hour of sleep was good, but I hate being late.

Tonight is not super exciting - but crossfit and olympic lifting then The Challenge comes back tonight.  I love terrible reality TV so it will be fun.

Onto the food:

B - coffee protein shake, coffee

L - leftover chinese

S - yogurt parfait & protein shake

D - bacon wrapped chicken thigh & roasted mushrooms (or this is the plan - we will see if I have the energy to cook tonight)

S - cottage cheese & blueberries

E - crossfit & lifting
