Today is an exciting day for me!  I've got literacy tutor training for most of the day so that I can learn how to tutor adults in basic literacy skills.  I'm super nervous and excited - I hope I'm up to the challenge and responsibility!  When I get home I'll need to apply myself to school work because I'm not going to have much study time throughout the weekend.

1: protein shake
2: chicken caesar wrap
3: shaking beef, Roasted Brussels sprouts with caramelized fish sauce, rice for the guys  (The recipes are from a cookbook, so I can't link them.)

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: yoga!

How about you?  What's going on in your world today?

Hi Gwen,

I had a lovely dinner party last night.  Nice people, good conversation, new friends and old friends.  Everyone liked the food which was all healthy.  But unfortunately, everyone brought wonderful deserts, and I ate them.  My resistance to sweets is not great lately.  I used to be able to just say no.  This morning all the left-over sweets went into the trash, before my will-power fades over the day.

breakfast - salmon

lunch - tuna with wasabi sauce - left over from last night

dinner - chicken with apricots, also left over from last night

Today is a quiet day.  I'll be doing some work for my non-profits, and continuing my Spanish studies.  Life is good.

I'm so glad you are training to tutor adult basic education.  One of the organizations I volunteer for does adult basic education, ESL, GED prep and college prep classes for the adults, mostly immigrant population.  It is wonderful to see these people having the opportunity to build better lives for themselves and their families.  I'm not doing direct services, but fund-raising to support their work.  I miss doing direct service work, and maybe will have to get back to that soon...

best wishes,

Carol

Cancelling my hysterectomy surgery that was planned for Wednesday.  Realized I didn't have enough confidence and faith in my surgeon, so shopping for a new one.  Bit of a bummer, but didn't want to put my life in the hands of someone I didn't have 100+% faith in.

In the past, this kind of thing would have sent me into an eating frenzy, but I'm actually okay.  That's an NSV in itself!  Not losing fast enough to suit me so ramping down the calories to max of 600 for a while. Found out my potassium is low...again!  Gotta eat more potassium rich foods.

B:  Fiber One cereal, Dannon L&F 80 cal Greek Yogurt, protein powder

L:  Coffee with half & half

D:  Chicken with some kind of tomato paste based sauce (high potassium!)  Gonna make it up as I cook lol

E:  Walking while shopping at Walmart (ugh), cardio video, recumbent bike

Hi Cathy:

Have you tried putting your greek yogurt, protein powder, 1/2 banana, and some almond milk in a blender ?(I use my mini ninja). Quick and easy plus potassium. I like strawberry yogurt with the banana. That's just me...

I totally respect your decision on your doctor. You have to be comfortable and have a high level of trust in the person operating on you. Great job making the change.
