It's been a while since I've posted one of these, since I eat out so rarely!  But I'm meeting up with a friend for dinner tonight and I'm excited.  It's restaurant week, so I get to pick one option per course.  Pretend money is no option (lol, I wish) - what would you order here?  (Remember, I'm asking what YOU would eat, not for you to tell me what I should eat.)

I'd be having me some Poulpe Basquaise with a Steake Tartar chaser (just like mom used to make ;> ).  Lots of protien, low carbs, terrific flavour & texture profiles. I'm sure you won't have to worry about over portioning in a place like this. Then take off before I have to pick up the tab.

Enjoy your culinary adventure.

Thanks for the food fantasy excerise

French onion soup, lamb shank and the Paris-brest. Looks delish!

Wow well it would depend on the day and my specific tastes.

But the fois gras would be a likely win.  Potentially the rissoto, the duck or le poulet :)

Enjoy!

I would start with either the mussels or the beet salad and then the trout entree.

Appetizer - steak tartare

Main - lamb shank

Dessert - Paris-Brest or cheese tray, not sure. Would depend on my mood at the restaurant!

Royale Sea Bass Crudo

Sea Scallops Crecy (I'd ask for very little "Forbidden Rice!" - OMG what could possibly be in that??? Please find out and tell all! :)

I'd probably skip dessert or just get the Seasonal Berries and ask for very little crème anglaise.

YUM!!!!!!! The leftovers will make a great lunch tomorrow.

You must update us and let us know how the meal was!

Forbidden rice (if I'm not totally off base) is black rice.  One of the 'best' rices nutrition wise (per 100g cooked):

  • Polished white rice - contains 6.8 protein, 1.2 iron, 0.6 fiber.
  • Brown rice: 7.9 protein, 2.2 iron, and 2.8 fiber.
  • Red rice: 7.0 protein, 5.5 iron, and 2.0 fiber.
  • Black rice: 8.5 protein, 3.5 iron, 4.9 fiber, and the highest amount of antioxidants of any rice variety.

...but it's still carb-y rice.

I would do the onion soup then the steak option and the apple crunch (can't remember what the real name was) thing for dessert. Just a bit of each but I'm sure they would be wonderful.
