Exercise victory...albeit a small one!
I swear someone needs to invent a pill that tricks your brain into LIKING exercise! Especially for those of us who have avoided it our whole lives in favor of stuffing ourselves silly! :)
I've had another stall, and I KNOW it's because I haven't been exercising. So today I forced myself to start a new low impact cardio routine. It s.u.c.k.e.d a lot less than I thought it would...but I know it's going to be a battle with myself every day to do it.
To make matters worse I have degenerative arthritis in my knees, so everything has to be knee friendly (which my new workout is). Places huge limitations on what I can do. I can walk, of course, but orthopod says only on flat level surfaces, of which there are NONE where I live.
So, will try very hard to do the cardio, and keep using my recumbent bike (which I have also not been doing recently). Gotta stop being so lazy and giving in to old habits. At least I'm eating right, so there is that!
Good for you! - I am one of the weird ones who actually like to exercise. I find that if I get up and get at it, my whole day is better. The best thing you can do for yourself is just stick with it everyday and soon it will become a habit. Good luck!
Hi Cathy
Have you thought about swimming? I know, the bathing suit thing does sit well with me either but they come with shorts now. Might be good for your knees. Just a thought.
When you find that pill - let me know smirk.

The little engine that could.....
I also have degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis) in my knees. The weight loss has been great for the pain, but I still have twinges. Living in the Northeast does not make walking outside in winter an every day opportunity. (I'm like a cow on ice when it's slippery.) I have alarms set on my Outlook calendar at work and get up and walk around inside the building 4 times a day. I've also just started to some training with bands.
I tell myself that if I'm doing anything for activity that I was not doing prior to surgery, I am doing more than I was before, and even the smallest thing is better than nothing. Maybe this will help you too.
You're doing great, Cathy!!!!

Thanks, P.! Every little bit helps, I just hate that I hate it so much. I know from past experience (waaaaaay in the past lol) that it will get easier and I'll eventually not hate it so much, it's just really hard to motivate myself cuz I still have so much to lose and it's still hard on my knees. But I'm going to persevere!!
Just a thought if you wanted to change it up and do walking there are Leslie Sansone videos that are low impact walking in your house the end up equaling anywhere from 1-5 miles pending on the workout you choose. With those you are able to have that nice flat surface in your house.
Had VSG on 9/28/15
