Cause and effect question....
Hello Everyone, it's been a while since I have been online and I had a question. Here is the back story to put it in perspective. When I was on last, I posted about severe back pain that came out of nowhere to the level where it put me in the ER. While there, they did a CT scan and the only thing they saw was inflamed lymph nodes which obviously was a big scare. A biopsy was done shortly thereafter and thankfully came back negative. X-rays and ultrasounds were also negative.
A few months ago we moved to a new state, during the course of travelling as well as hotel living while our house was undergoing remodeling (which was insane, next time I am buying a brand new house) it was mostly eating out being we didn't have a kitchen while being at the hotel. I knew I would likely regain 5-10 pounds being it was basically eating out each day or so being dinner out would turn into like 3 meals for me. During this time my back pain had gone away so I figured it was just muscle pulls or strains, etc.
Well we finally got into our new home and a week ago while unpacking I finally found my bathroom scale. To my horror and disgust, I had regained 27 pounds. That totally blew my mind being my clothes didn't start feeling tight or anything. That said I was however also back to my normal prior to moving routine, my protein shakes, chicken salad, etc. In the last week, I have lost 17 of the 27 pounds I had regained and while I am delighted by being back on track, my back pain has returned with a vengeance. I know it's not a strain caused issue being we had professional movers.
So sorry for the novel, but here is my question. Has anyone had the experience of losing weight to where your body had an issue supporting the change? I find it odd that I had back pain for many months they can't diagnose, then I regain a some weight albeit more than I had thought and the pain disappears, then I lose that weight and the pain returns like a switch being flipped. Also if someone else has gone through this, I know where the trigger is for it starting for me, has anyone gone through this and reached the next hurdle where their body overcame it? I know other's experiences won't be the same for me, but it might give me an idea to keep an eye open for.
So in just slightly over 14 months since surgery (11/17/15), I am at 127 pounds lost, that includes the weight I have lost since the regain, so 10 more to lose to be at where I was prior to my move. So all in all still pretty good in my opinion. Any advice on the pain issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my novel like post.
Early out my back really bothered me. Eventually it stopped- I took up backpacking and I suspect lugging the pack around helped to strengthen the core/back. I also would get bouts of back pain with gallbladder attacks... but in the beginning I didn't realize it was gallbladder attacks.

Doubtful, it's the top of the line Simmons Beautyrest Black and about 2 years old. It cause and effect is when I crossed this threshold of weight loss I am at now. We spun the mattress and I even tried sleeping in our guest bedroom which is obviously a different mattress, thanks for the suggestion however. 8)
Just because it's a "good" mattress, doesn't mean it's good for you. And with all the traveling/hotel sleeping, it seems like your home bed is a constant with the back pain.
It's easy to blame weight loss/gain, but correlation doesn't equal causation.

Um. Back pain from an incorrect mattress has nothing to do with quality of sleep? You can sleep wonderfully and never know that your spine is in an incorrect alignment.

This may not be what's happening to you, but for me constipation can cause back pain. And protein shakes cause me to become constipated (unless I use Miralax with them) Couldn't hurt to give it a try. Blessings
