2 years past- I wouldn't. Not worth saving the few dollars.

I'm picturing being naked in my front yard, being bent at the waist, spinning in circles while power fertilizing my yard out two orifices of my body. Not a pretty picture!

That is a novel way to fertilize your lawn.  You must have the greenest grass in the neighborhood, although based on the way you described you take care of it, the neighbors can not see it due to their drapes are closed.

Remember that we have less stomach acid post-op than the typical person with our altered anatomy.  Many of us are on PPIs also.  This puts us at a (slightly) higher risk from spoiled food, as stomach acid is preventative against pathogens - it doesn't just serve to digest food.

I never feel bad throwing food away.  The times I have eaten processed food that was expired have gotten me horribly sick since surgery. Harvey dislikes old food.  YMMV, of course.
