If you are doing your part -- getting enough protein, taking your vitamins -- there is nothing else you can do.
It may not even happen. Not everyone loses hair.

I am 3 months out and may be losing more than usual but I have a ton of hair so I am not too freaked out. My protein is right on. If I go bald i will fit right in with my husband. Two peas in a pod.
I started losing hair at the 3 month mark and it continued for a life cycle which is 3 months. I did freak out a little because I have beautiful hair and it is disconcerting to see the handfuls. On the plus side, no one other than my hairdresser noticed. I have a lot of hair so it felt fine compared to normal but i didn't have any bald spots like I feared. As my Dr and RD predicted, it stopped at the 6 month mark. I took extra Biotin and followed my program so there isn't much you can do. It happens or it doesn't.
I didn't lose hair - Seems that some people have hair that is sensitive to shock (surgery/fast weight loss) and some don't. Apparently the luck of the draw. I would have been okay with it - better to be thinner all over than heavy with good hair! And the hair loss is only temporary.

Since surgery...a little over six weeks ago....my hair has actually gotten thicker. I think that is because I am getting better nutrition now than I was before.
Some people lose it, some people don't. I'm not really far out enough to experience it or not, but keeping your hair trimmed and the dead ends off of it will help. It always helped me post-partum when I started losing hair. I just needed that little trim to help it sustain better.
Good luck to you!
