Im 19 days out from VSG and can't hold anything down. Water makes me feel yucky like I can vomit so does protein. I have placed a call in spoken with the dietitian but there seems to be no real answers. I meet with the surgeon on the 11th I hope he can give me answers. I'm starting to get really down about this.

It sounds like you're dehydrated.  Your number one job right now is getting your fluids in.  Don't worry so much about the protein - you need liquid more than you need anything else.  Your body has enough fat stored to take care of things for a while if necessary.

Drink like it's your job.  Experiment with different liquids and different temperatures.  For example, warm tea might be better for your stomach than cold water.  Hot broth might work better than warm tea.  Ice cold crystal light lemonade might work better than cold water.  Etc, etc.

Try everything until you find what works and then get your minimum of 64 ounces of fluid a day.  From there, work on getting in your protein.

They talked about this in my class....

Try sugar free popsicles.....and the others Gwen suggested.  Get those fluids in or

you'll be in the ER.

Good luck.  Keep us posted.

Also, are you taking anything for the nausea? My surgeon sends his patients home with a prescription for nausea meds..mine was zofran, as well as a prescription for prilosec to help with acid. I take the prilosec every day. I used the zofran as prescribed the first few days and then only as necessary, but it might help ease it so that you can get your liquids in. At first I tolerated warm broth with unflavored protein powder mixed in and sugar free hot chocolate with unflavored protein. I had surgery 12/14 so not far from you.

Try power aid zero. You have to have fluids!
