Protein Bars

A full cup at 9 weeks?!  No way.  I can't do a full cup of dense protein NOW and I'm almost 3 years post-op!

That said, if you're sticking to dense protein you really shouldn't have trouble meeting your protein goals with 3 meals a day.

As for bars, I like Quest bars, but only when I need an emergency meal on the go.

No, no, not a full cup of dense protein...just a full cup per meal!  My guidelines are 3 oz (by weight) or 1/2 cup of protein, 1/4 cup non-starchy veg, and 1/4 of carb or starchy veg.  I pretty much want to do half and half--half protein, half non-starchy veg.   Since I can only manage 1/2 cup, it's all protein, and I'm craving veggies and fruit but have no room lol.  So I was looking for a way to get protein some other way for now so I can have some veggies now and then :)

Ah, I'd just stick to the protein for now.  The other stuff can wait.

I add protein powder to Greek yogurt for a protein boost. I agree with Gwen.. I didn't add fruit or veggies until I was within ten pounds of goal... saved all of my room for protein forward choices.

I agree with a Gwen and Ocean.  I mostly ate protein in the first 6+ months to get it all in and only had good carbs when there was room left over.

Well, phooey!  I guess this is where experience wins over the best intentions of my guidelines!!  I just bought a bunch of fresh veggies and a bag of apples, too :(  Guess I'll be freezing what I can and my lucky baby sis will be inheriting the rest.

Thank you all for the advice, guess my veggie cravings will just have to wait a few more months :)

My meal plan is very strict with "3 meals a day, no snacks" so veggies and fruits didn't get added until I could comfortably reach my protein goals with those guidelines.  Replacing "real" protein with a processed protein bar to be able to fit more food into your diet is not a great plan :/
