Goal Update

In 2015 I had awesome goals and posted updates every month to stay on track.  I started 2016 with poorly conceived goals and then got all off track because of everything that this year has thrown at me so I haven't been sharing goal updates at all.  But I want to get back in the habit and be in a good place for goals when 2017 comes around.

So, here's my update for the end of November 2016.

1. Reach plastics goal by March - 18 to go!
2. Get back to running and complete Zombies Run! 5k Training Plan - I mostly completed it before I had to start my half marathon plan.
3. Complete two races - Done!
4. Fitness classes twice a week - The last month has been bad between sick and anger and travel and everything else.
5. Meditation - Nope. I'm thinking this is no longer a worthwhile goal for me, so I'll definitely remove it next time.
6. Pass all classes with a minimum grade of B - 9 classes for the year so far and 2 weeks left for the other 5 classes. Grades are looking good.
7. Stay on track for 5/2017 graduation for my AA in Exercise and Sport Science - Still on track.
8. Take care of myself as best I can - Some days are better than others.
9. Support my mom as best as I can - I think it's going well. I've been able to see her every month and that's awesome.
10. Average 1 mile per day running - I'll need to average about 14 miles a week to reach my goal, so that's definitely not going to happen. But I'll be closer at the end of the year than I am right now and that's what matters.

I only have one more month with these goals and clearly I need to think long and hard before creating my 2017 goals. I need to get back to the SMART goal creation concepts and figure out what's actually important to me.

Last month I felt that grief brain was about to take over, I don't feel that I'm on that brink now. There's anger, sorrow, exhaustion, fear, and lots of other things battling for brain space with the grief.

You are a super star!  You are doing so well.

Congratulations on all your successes.  Plus going to school and caring for your mom, and all you do.

Your humanity and your determination are a wonderful combination.  You are an inspiration.

best wishes,

I loved those goals. I have not done that for myself. My brain always tells me *hurry and pay off bills faster*. That isn't a goal.

I think I will be making some small but in the long run, big goals for myself. This was a good post! Inspiring. Falling off the band wagon for, 2 years, is not acceptable.

The only difference between a wish and a goal is that a goal has a date attached to it.  Using SMART is a great plan.

You are amazing and a true inspiration, Gwen!  I respect you so much for what you have achieved.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
