I have just been approved for a VSG I am so excited.  I have been scheduled for Dec 13th, best Christmas present that I could give me! A little nervous now that I know the date, but still more excited then nervous.  I been told I should be back to work 4 weeks from the surgery date, should put me on good footing for a great start to the new year.  I would appreciate any lessons learned of what to do prior to surgery. comments appreciated.

Congratulations on getting your date!!!!!

My office mate and I were both sleeved earlier this Fall - 10/12 for me and 11/14 for her.

Once we started the process we began logging all food intake with my fitness pal using the nutritional goals from our Nutritionist.  We drink ALOT of water at work, so fluid intake wasn't an issue.  We began using protein shakes as a meal supplement to find the one we liked best and focused on what we were eating and how - making better meal choices and being mindful of eating slowly and chewing thoroughly.  All these things not only helped in losing some weight pre-surgery, but really helped post-op.

We had two days of clear liquids pre-op, which wasn't bad.

Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress.

That is awesome!  Congrats on the results of your hard work.  One person I know was cleared for hardtack around 5-6 weeks.  I'd kill for some of that or even a saltine as a vehicle for some of the pureed goop I've been eating.  Luckily there is neither in the house, so I won't have to off someone to get at it.
