For sleevers who eat fruit
on 11/17/16 6:35 am
Not every sleeve patient can handle fresh fruit, but for those who can, here's a way to dress melon cubes that is, to my taste buds anyway, delicious and nutritious. I was served this at dinner one night on a recent cruise:
- Cantaloupe and/or honeydew melon cubes or balls
- A little finely minced pickled ginger (the kind that is served with sushi)
- A small dollop of lime-flavored low-fat yogurt
- Mix all lightly together
I can only guesstimate the amounts: I would guess for a cup of melon cubes, about 2 teaspoons of minced pickled ginger would be enough. I love ginger, so this amount may be too much for some), and a heaping tablespoon of lime yogurt (again, depending on how much you like yogurt, you could add more).

Sadly I can't eat melon due to my fructose issue but.. I cheat about once a year. I love to wrap it with prosciutto!

Smoked salt and melon is fabulous too! Sadly, I haven't had it in forever. We often did the melon and prosciutto growing up.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

That sounds super yummy! Fruit does ok for me... Only issue I have is gas with grapes... but I SOO love them!
