welcome to the forum.
I'm glad you posted some pictures. I enjoy watching people's successes over time!
There's lots of advice as you go thru the process. But I'll just mention a few things.
- I recommend a low carb diet. Carbohydrates cause food cravings for many of us, and for me BIG TIME. I think a low carb diet might help a lot. I think its especially helpful to go low carb before the pre-op liquid diet. Then you aren't dealing with the carb cravings while trying to stick to the liquid diet, which is hard enough without the cravings.
- Someone told me that after surgery, "walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip." Walking helps dissipate the pain from the gases, and most of us have to work to get our liquids in so we don't get dehydrated.
- I'm sure your program has told you this already, but the WLS is a tool not a cure. We all have to commit to a life-time of managing our obesity. The WLS make it possible, but it doesn't make it easy.
But the good news it that it is possible. I lost 225 pounds and I've been maintaining within about 5 pounds of my goal weight for 2.5 years. It takes effort. but its so worth it.
Again, welcome to the forum. I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss journey

This is what the nurse and my mentors told me...
- Expect nausea and a bunch of it. I had none, but most do.
- Walk and sip, repeat.
- Don't cheat on your diet...especially post op. It could mean life or death.
- Follow Doctors orders.
- Relax and take time to heal.
- Don't compare your loss to others.
- Know that you will have stalls in losing.
II am so excited for you! It was the best decision I ever made!
6 weeks out and I am down 32 pounds!
