You got that "I am drinking enough water but the salt is being flushed out too rapidly or I don't have enough carbs?"

Most people don't understand that as long as their kidneys work well, drinking plain water may dehydrate them more by removing the minerals from the body.

When we eat carbs - body makes glycogen to store as fast enrgru and every 1 gram of glycogen needs 8 gr of water..that is stored in liver and muscles. As you burn glycogen, you use or get rid of the water...

On top of that - our post op diet is not only low volume but low salt (protein shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese) so we may get very quickly get sodium deficient (and other minerals). Add some exercises - plus drinking plenty of plain water - and a lot of people get physically dehydrated - with low BP, ortostatic hypotension, muscle cramps...etc...and wonder why...

As a long term post op I have to add salt and minerals (elecrolytes) to my diet - drinks.. Heart is a muscle and it needs electrolytes to work properly. I eat pickles, add good quality salt to my diet and often drink drinks with electrolytes - that most people who exercise drink all the time...

I cringe when I see people advice others to use low salt diet to lose more weight... Ugh..

Here is one (of many ) info about sodium..
