Vitamin Deprived
Hey VSG Friends ,
I had the sleeve August 2016 down about 35lbs YAY . I have come to a slight Speed bump/Issue .
I have been taking Bariatric Optisource Vitamin & Mineral Supplement Chewable Tablets have tried the Fusions brand as well (Even worse). I was told I needed chewable . So they are terrible and This past 3 weeks I find my self Gagging and When that happens Blah there comes everything else . Its only when I eat Vitamins . I have tried Chewing , Crushing and just swallowing them but its all a no go . Can some one recommend a Vitamin that is good for sleeve patients that you can just swallow ? I am seeing that I am not getting enough vitamins Having headaches , Just feeling blah . So any Advice would be greatly appreciated .
There is no reason (at least according to the ASMBS) that you can't use regular vitamin pills. You don't need a chewable.
Any high quality over the counter should work - the ASMBS recommends that we take a multi with 200% of most vitamins and minerals.

I got the OK to take regular pills as soon as I could swallow them. I take a generic multi from Walgreen's, plus extra calcium and iron, no problems.

If you prefer chewable, the chewable Centrums aren't bad though they lack selenium. I, too, just take capsules, though. I basically hate chewable vitamins. My only chewables now are for my biotin and B12 sublingual tablet. I take 2x Kirkland brand daily, myself (they are gluten free, too, I think).
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Well i take gummy vitamins - a double dose at recommendation of my surgeon. They have a few calories in them but I too got sick of the other chewable and got tired of swallowing so many horse pills including calcium and fish oil. My calcium comes in "petites" so the pills aren't so huge. might look for similar ones in multivitamins. I also took kids chewables for a long time. gl diane s
I take gummy vitamins and chews for calcium. However for the ones I can't chew I learned something from my dad being in rehab/nursing home for a month. They put his crushed pills in pudding!!!
So I grabbed some sf banana pudding, 2 scoops of banana creme zero carb protein by isopure, 2 cups milk. ( I used almond milk, but it doesn't firm up, so I drink it lol ) I use plastic shot glasses with lids and got about 12 "shots" then I either cut open the capsules and pour into pudding or crush the pills into powder and stir. problem solved!
My program recommended one "once a day" vitamin and that's what I got. I'm 4 days pre-op, but started taking them with my 2-week pre-op liquid diet. They are ProCare Health Bariatric Once-A-Day Multivitamin Capsule. I was told if I had trouble swallowing the capsule (which I don't), I could just open it up and mix it in with a drink or, since you're post-op, a spoonful of yogurt or something. I get mine at Amazon.com, they come in 30 or 90 day supply.
