3.5 years post-op VSG
Hi there! It's been a while since I've been around, so just wanted to pop by and say hello! The last 3.5 years have been a roller coaster ride for sure, but it's been the best years of my life thanks to my vertical sleeve gastrectomy! My starting weight was 311 lbs. Within a year of surgery I was maintaining at 165 lbs.
2.5 years post-op I discovered I was pregnant (total surprise!) and I gave birth to my baby boy four months ago! I am now happily maintaining my weight at 158-160 lbs (depending on the day).
This surgery has completely changed my life! It has eliminated so many health problems I had prior, and also allowed me to become a mother; something I thought would never happen (after years of infertility treatments prior to VSG).
Weight loss surgery is NOT the easy way out. You have to WORK to lose the weight, and you have to WORK to maintain the weight you lose! I still have days where I eat garbage and my weight does fluctuate. You have to stay active and you have to stay mindful. When I see the scale starting to creep up, I know I have to get my butt in gear.
I'm always happy to make new VSG buddies, so feel free to add me, message me, or ask any questions. I just wanted to post a quick hello and update since so many who have surgery don't come back or let us know of their progress so many years out. I just want people to know that keeping the weight off is do-able!
Wishing you all the best!
- Kari :)

I did, actually. Within 2 weeks I lost all 40 lbs I gained, and within a month I was down 5lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight! :)
