Happy, happy emotion tonight

I'm five days post-op and at 6 pm my phone alerted me to take my weekly diabetes shot. I teared up immediately (happy tears) knowing I will never have to take this shot again, and also knowing that I made the right decision to have surgery. I was immediately taken off all my diabetes medications and it feels great.

I'm still healing from the surgery and take the challenges day by day. This clear liquid diet has been a challenge, but I'm very close to the next phase and can add a few more liquids.

I remember when I had my surgery, that my fasting glucose was 180.  24 hours later it was 85 for the first time in two decades. It is a fabulous feeling. Congrats!

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Wonderful post. I'm so happy for you, and your improving health.  The healing process and the period when we adjust to our new tummy is challenging, but it is so worth it in the end.

Your post reminds me of how far I've come.   I lost 225 pounds, going from a BMI of 60 to a BMI of 24. I've been maintaining near goal for about 2 years, and I feel so grateful for sleeve surgery and how its improved my health.

best wishes,

Carol
