I, too, was curious so I am glad you asked. On one hand, I am impatient... but on the other, I think I am okay with a slow drop so that my skin has a fighting chance in it's elasticity.

How fast or slow you lose has absolutely, positively ZERO impact on your skin. Age, genetics, and how long you were at your high weight are the only things that matter. And those are all things you have no control over.

I disagree with those that say it is a marathon, not a sprint. After year one or two, it's a marathon -- one that lasts all our lives. But in that first year, year and a half, or two years, it's a race. Run. Run for your life. Zombies are after you. Get the weight off. Maximize it, every day.

If you start thinking, even a little bit, that there is some advantage to losing slow, the part of your brain that loves food will sabotage you. You WILL lose slowly. You will never reach goal. I have seen this happen, over and over. And your skin will never have a chance to shrink, because it will still be full of fat.

Run. RUN!

Thank you. I really needed that reminder and inspiration today.

Put your info in the OH Post-Op Planner. It was very accurate for my loss. The average excess weight lost by 6 months out seems to be about 50%. For example, I wanted to lose 200 pounds. By month 6, I had lost 100 pounds.
