Vegetarians?
Everything I eat is vegan. Cows, pigs, chickens.

For what it is worth, I am a lap-bander who became a vegetarian after my surgery (though I am hoping to get it removed and revised to something else in the future) and I did not feel like I had to eat meat to get enough protein.
Personally, I have relied on things such as beans and rice, tofu, cottage cheese (if you eat dairy), and grains such as quinoa to make sure I get protein.

Most of my protein comes from fish, chicken, eggs, tofu, and beans. I do eat some red meat because my "Must-Eat-Cow!" husband doesn't like fish or chicken, and it's too much effort for me to prepare separate meals.
I keep my protein intake around 40-45g/daily. I don't like to eat more than that, and I don't think it's healthy to eat nothing but protein. I'm a firm believer in adding some healthy fruits and vegetables to my diet. My surgeon and nutritionist agree with me and approve my protein amounts. My labs always look good.

Vegetarian and VSG is VERY hard to do...... impossible, NO..... low percentage approach, YES.
Most obese vegetarians are carb sensitive and vegetarian diets are carb forward.
Couple that with lowering the effectiveness of a major component of the VSG, restriction.
A powerful part of the VSG is taking advantage of the pyloric valve.
Most vegetarian foods are slider type foods.
If you could do fish and chicken you would be very good !
Hope this helps.
