Have to admit, a little upset

I ONLY go by one scale...my one at home...here's why...

I had lap band surgery many years ago (since removed). At my first weigh in at the doctor's office, I also needed an adjustment done. At the doctor's office, they weighed me....it showed a 5 lb difference, NOT in my favor from my home scale. Oh well....down to the department that did the adjustments. They also weighed me...it showed a 30 lb difference, NOT in my favor. WTH? I complained about this to the woman at the desk. She said they rarely calibrate their scales.

All this to say, don't pay attention to any other scale than the one you personally use at home. It really isn't about the number you weigh. It is more about the number you lost...-5, -10...whatever....but you see and recognize the loss.

Just remember the Dr scale has everyone weighing themselves on it, so it might differ how many times if any they'd re calibrate it. Plus you're weighing yourself at a time when you've been active during the day so you might have some water weight on there.

I always weigh more at the Drs office than I weigh at home. I too usually weigh myself in the morning. The difference isn't much, just try not to get hung up on the numbers, just use it as a guide.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel

Exactly.  I always complain that my scale is about 5 lbs less than ANY scale in my surgeon's office.  He told me it's because they weigh so many people of varying weights, it's impossible to keep the scale perfectly calibrated.  He told me to use the scale I use every day as my "official" weight and not to focus on his scale.  It works for me.

My PCP's scale always weighs me LOWER than every other scale.  Which is super annoying too!  Although, I've found that as I lose weight, it gets more accurate.  Which means it doesn't work well for heavier weights.  Rar.

I just focus on my own scale and ignore the various doctors' scales.  I can always show them my tracked weight data on my phone if they don't believe my claims.  The weights at home are more accurate because I weight first thing in the morning after using the bathroom, before ingesting anything, and naked.  So it's much more consistent than "whenever I happen to be at the doctor, after ingesting who knows what, and wearing whatever clothing I might be wearing."

I also weigh first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom, before eating, in my PJs (consistent ones).  I bought a balance scale (Detecto) when I started this journey like the ones that doctors used to have (and my gym still has), so I know it's right.  I figured if I was going to commit to this, I had to have a scale I trusted.

Yea, I won't get myself excited to go on their scale ever again. Lol. It's like you want to show them that you've been doing great, but then their scale doesn't even close to match your home scale and your balloon is deflated. Lol. That's ok, it'll all be a distant memory in a few months! :)
