So, I am feeling nervous. Today I meet with my Dr. to set up my surgery date. I've done the 6 mos of nutrition appointments, Psych evaluation, test for sleep apnea. getting approved by my insurance and losing the initial weight they asked me to before surgery. Now, I'm feeling like it's finally happening and I am a little afraid of the unknown. I have been on this sight for 6 months quietly reading and taking in all the great advice being given and the wonderful outcomes after the surgery and not so great outcomes. So, I guess what I am asking is, what is your advice on a wonderful outcome vs. the not so great outcome. I'm thinking it's as easy as listening to what the Dr tells you to do, but I am guessing it's not as easy as that or they would all be great outcomes.

Please give me your advice on how to have a wonderful outcome after surgery and what to expect as far as paing and drinking the liquids the first and second week of post op.

I would appreciate any input you may have.

Be aware that health insurances are dropping weight loss surgery coverage.   I told my surgeon to have everything completed before the first of the next year.  New coverage almost always begins in January.

Being successful is mainly a matter of following the rules.  Some luck is also involved as far as not having complications.

If you follow the general rules of eating slowly, protein first and drinking your fluids you should be pretty successful. Don't skip any steps, if your surgeon says pureed food for a week, then do it, also just be patient with yourself, this surgery is a real shock to your body but the eventual outcome is worth it.
