At what weight did you shrink out of plus sized clothes?

Tara,

I'm trying to shed my airplane worries, but they're like white cat fur on a black sweater: hard to get rid of. But I'm at least more hopeful that I'll fit without swearing, thigh corsets(which I think I just made up), or a complex system of ropes and pulleys. We'll see. I will report back!

I get hungry too. Physically hungry. I don't have acid issues now though, and my doctor told me that it's actually pretty common for people get hungry after surgery, even with all that ghrelin-making stomach real estate gone. That's a bummer. I'd much rather NOT be hungry, but I guess it's okay, since who knows if I'd have forced myself to start eating otherwise. Also, it apparently comes back for almost everyone eventually. I'd check with the surgeon though about whether it could be acid-related. Silent GERD is actually worse than the stuff you feel(more damage happens because you're not actively flailing for treatment).

Have you been taking measurements? One thing I did the other day when I was trying to figure out whether the size 20 pants were labeled wrong(yes, I actually was sure they were labeled wrong until I danced into a pair of my mom's size 18s that were decidedly too tight to wear even though I zipped them... just barely)--I compared my measurements to size charts from Lane Bryant, Roamans, Torrid... to get an idea of what I should be ordering according to them. Mostly 1x, 20s, etc. I'm still not convinced that it's not some kind of Jedi mind trick: These are not the measurements you're looking for. But at least I do have proof of the numbers shrinking. Or my tape stretching. You know. Depending on what my inner lunatic decides to believe that day.

All the being able to move around is AMAZING, right? I love my elliptical(though I haven't been on it three days, I get hives all over if I work out when it's that time of the month... fun, right?), but I'm back on it tomorrow, and then later I have what I like to call: Really Bad Dance Party in the Living Room nightly. Which is also fun and gives me an excuse to listen to Enrique Iglesias *purrrr*.

Enjoy the freedom, and I wish I had suggestions about the menu. I am also in a menu rut, I just have chosen to look at it as: I don't really want to be eating anything anyway, at least this boring food won't make me eat too fast or wish I could have more.

I can now find clothes in about 50% of non-plus only stores.  Old Navy and Walmart have been kind to me.  I wear a 3-4x there (usually a 4x).  Lane Bryant and the online stuff lets me get away with a 2x... funny how that works.

Being able to one day get clothes anywhere would be amazing.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I am 6'2'' and have it noted that at 228 I was a 20 tall. I also posted a size 16 with maybe another 10 pound loss. I know that 195 is a size 14, and 180 a size 12. Not sure where you draw the line on plus sizes so I am giving a range.

Is so interesting to see the differences in weight.

The last time I lost a significant amount of weight I was 245 and fitting into an XL/16. I'm 5'8 and have a large frame.

(I'm 10 days post-op and 15 lbs away from that number...so looking forward to getting out of plus sizes!!)

Poking my head in here.

I'm 5'3" with a medium frame and weigh 165lbs now.  I am in a size 10.  I can sometimes wear a medium.  I moved from the XXL to an XL right around the 210lb mark, maybe even closer to 200lbs.  I remember it was last winter and I was trying to buy a winter coat because my plus sized one was too big.  I couldn't go for an XL in early December because it was too tight, so I got a cheap 1X coat from Walmart.  It was too big for me by New Years when I hit Onderland.

I'm 5'10". When I use to be 200lbs I was in a 12 and my smallest was 148lb and was in a 2/4.

Things to consider....vanity sizing, height and the real bigy, IMHO, is loose skin.  Where you carried your weight.  Darn that loose skin!  It gets in the way of sizes in al

most everything.  Especially if you had it in stomach, thighs and a lot in upper arms.  We all come in many shapes pre and post WLS.

Sizes are just as bad as the number on the scale...we all appear different with both.

my 2 cents

Really interesting to see how sizes are. I'm 4'11 139 and wear size 10 jeans but I can now wear small size shirts.
