Just received reading for my lipids as follow:

  • total cholesterol is 245mg
  • HDL is 99 mg
  • LDL is 132 mg
  • Triglycerides is 66 mg
  • Cholesterol/HDL Ratio 2.5

  • LDL/HDL Ratio 1.34

Based on these ratings even though the total cholesterol is 245mg but my HDL is at a whopping 99mg which is great.  And according to the newly standards my total cholesterol number it's consider borderline elevated or high elevated. Looking for fellow sleevers with same or similar situatuon to chime in and give their opinion. I want make sure I take care of this because would not want to deal with something down the road. Please advise.

Thanks !!

I found that my cholesterol and lipids went up during the period of rapid weight loss.  My Dr. wanted to put me on meds, but I suggested waiting to see if it was just a symptom of my weight loss and my body burning fat for energy.  It did come down after the weight loss slowed, but its still marginal.  I'm hoping to avoid taking drugs, as I think humans do better with their normal body chemistry, in most cases.

best of luck,

Carol

My total cholesterol went up to a high of 306! From a pre surgery level of 152.  Now that I'm not in rapid weight loss, my numbers are coming down and at my 2 year labs total cholesterol was 220.  They will continue to monitor me with repeat labs every 4-6 months but the consensus is I do not need to be put on a statin.  Good luck.
