Where do start calculating 1st month weight loss?

I am a little confused about where I should start marking and counting weight loss. I was about 308 before I started my clear liquids pre-op and then dropped to 294 the day before my surgery. Had surgery, gained 5 pounds to 299. I am now sitting at 286ish 3 1/2 weeks out. Any suggestions?

I went with my last weigh in at the doctors office.  I wasn't weighed on surgery day or the day after.  So, I went with my pre-op appointment.

It can be at any point you like, really. I consider my "start weight" as my weight on the day I went in for my very first pre-op consultation, four months before I had surgery. The 14lb I lost before surgery absolutely count as part of my journey!

I wondered the same thing, then just went hard-line with surgery weight, but it kinda makes me feel like I haven't come that far at all when I am down 94 lbs from the start of the journey, and another 30 from my highest weight a couple years before!

I started at my highest weight.  I figured I earned those pounds, so I get to count them.

I chose t separate it into different sections. From the point I decided to have surgery right up to weighing in on the surgery day is what I count as my preop loss. That same weight day of surgery is the starting point for month one.

On a side note, I also tracked percent of excess weight lost each month. This was helpful in that as months went by my monthly amount decreased slightly, but that percentage of excess weight loss remained very good. It was just a different way for me to think about that number on the scale in the bigger picture, and not beat myself up over slightly lower monthly numbers. My percent of EWL actually improved as the weight loss phase went on.
