Death of my Instant Pot (pressure cooker)

And now that will be playing in my head for at least a few hours... ugh!

Always difficult to say goodbye to a loved one.  My thoughts are with you. 

Might not say goodbye. Contemplating keeping the corpse for spare parts. 

Hell I could have sent you mine. Either I don't know how to work it or it never worked since I had it. It cooks and heats fine but when the recipe says  to release pressure there is NEVER any pressure to release. Beats the hell out of me what I'm doing wrong. It has now ended up on the shelf in the basement with the rest of the kitchen gadgets I have purchased over the years. My wife calls it the kitchen gadget bone yard. 

Not have pressure that releases per a recipe depneds... if the recipe has you wait say 15 minutes after the timed pressure cycle is done, you very well may not have pressure to release. But, if you put in something, program it for say 5 minutes, let it run the cycle, and then immediately go to release... it should take nearly 2 minutes for that steam to release enough to get the lid off. 

If it is not getting to pressure it could be:

1. You do not have the minimum amount of liquid in the pot to get it to pressure (1-2 cups). Or, the liguid you do have is too thick (i.e. bbq sauce or spaghetti sauce)
2. The seal needs to be reseated. If you notice while it is on that steam is coming out the sides, it is not going to hold pressure. Reseat that seal. Some on the Facebook page also mention that sometimes they have to push down on the lid for that seal to take. 
3. Confirm you are programming it correctly.

If that does not describe possible reasons of why it is not heating, try the water test. Put 3 cups of water in, set it to say a 1 minute manual cycle. If it does not get to pressure, it is time to put in a support ticket with Instant Pot. It will still be under warrenty, but if you wait you might be stuck with a defective unit. 

If you really think you won't use it, I can buy it off of you. I bought a second unit on Amazon, but the seller was out of China. He never shipped it, and Amazon just refunded my purchase. Hence, I am back in the market for a second unit.
