Hello,

I'm 19 weeks post-op VSG, down 47 lbs...20-30 to go. I'm having my first physical in 10 years tomorrow. Can y'all recommend any specific blood tests (protein?) or other tests I should request? I think he has some sort of body fat imaging gizmo that I'm going to request. Thanks!

You may want to double-check with your VSG doc before you proceed.  As part of my program, my doc ran lots of blood tests and will run them again 6 mos post VSG.

Stupidly, I waited until the day before my physical to email him. He may not get the email, so I thought I would reach out to some of the more seasoned patients here.

I can post what my surgeon gave me and told me to make copies of. Its a sheet with all the panels he wants

If anything, will give you a good baseline to go from

My surgeon does a full metabolic panel, cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney and liver, iron, B-vitamins. A lot of the tests are grouped together and your doctor can order a "set" to get a good baseline.

You might want to call your surgeon's office to see if she/he does routine tests. Mine does one prior to every appointment, so I did them at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, and twice a year after that. If you've got a surgeon visit coming up you may not need your GP to do it.
