I had a gastric sleeve almost five years ago......my weight has been pretty stable until I got an IUD inserted for birth control.  Now my weight is ballooning.  I need help with basics and coming up with a new plan to help with these hormones......any suggestions?

I have mirena and was advised there was no estrogen in it which I can not have bc of a history of blood clots. I have been out of surgery 7 mo. and im down 116 pounds. I haven't had very many issues w. it

I have Skyla and have no issues. It's been 4 months but I heard that you gain 5 lbs a year with IUD.

As I understand the science, the hormones in an IUD are not going to directly affect your weight, save a bit of water retention. It's possible, however, that the introduction of new hormones could change your emotions, which could lead to eating off-plan.

Your best bet is to log your food and be BRUTALLY honest. A nibble while you cook? Ketchup on your meat? Weigh it, measure it, log it. Take a good long look at your log (MyFitnessPal is great for that) and see where you're actually at.

The general feeling around the site is that folks should shoot for 600 - 800 calories, 60+g protein, >40g carbs, 64+oz water. (Talk to your doctor for personal specifics.) See how close you are to that with your current eating, and adjust as needed.
