8 years later and I've gained.........

Well I have not been on here in awhile but today as I was putting on my bikini yep that right 54 years old and putting on a bikini still.

I remembered how much it helped me to hear others experiences so I decided to come on and update. I had my sleeve surgery 8 years ago as of today I have gained a total of 5 pounds back. Things I struggle with still is protein and eating too fast. I still have a good amount of restriction and it varies from day to day. Some days I can eat an entire 6 inch sub and other days I can't eat 2 inches of it.

Chicken and Steak I have given up on I try every once in awhile but they are just too dense for me I tend to eat a lot of fish now beans and eggs to get in protein but not gonna lie I have days where I don't eat protein at all. Be careful because things like cookies cake chips crackers all those nasty empty carbs are so easy to eat and the volume amount compared to what you can eat of other foods is tremendous. And being a former fatty my mind and eyes still want to eat a large volume. I attribute my 5 lb gain to those nasty foods.

I have finally gotten just this year to where i only weigh myself twice a week - however weighing myself daily for 7 years really helped keep me in check and nip it in the butt when i started to creep up.

I still will say this is the best thing I have ever done and so thank full for the life it has given me.

Cheers

Congratulations on your success.  I completely understand about those nasty empty carbs as I'm struggling with them as well as a sudden feeling my sleeve is huge and can hold a lot. I get a lot from hearing from vets such as yourself that it can be maintained and there are ways to combat regain and we can still feel good about ourselves.

I hope to be where you are at 8 years out, dealing with a 5lb gain, at most, but continuing to feel thankful and successful.

Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
