I feel so much regret

I got sleeved April 12, 2016. All I'm feeling now is regret. I feel like, "Why have I done this to myself?" I've lost 20 pounds so far, not in any pain, and I can walk around all day. I know it's a lifestyle change and I'm prepared for that. I just can't shake this feeling of regret. Does this go away with time? I hope so.

Me thinks you are in the hormone dumping stage of rapid weight loss!

This is a very normal stage as an early post op. In some people it manifests as a feeling or remorse or apathy or general malaise. Me, I got weepy. I cried at sappy commercials for Hallmark (it was Christmas time).

This will pass.

It does pass, trust me, I was in your same shoes. I was so mad at myself for making such a drastic decision. I told myself I had ruined my life, I would never be normal, I would never be happy. I was so so wrong.

I am not going to lie and say it didn't take me some time to get to this point, I am 3 months post-op now, but I have no regrets at all. All of that regret and sadness, the beating yourself up, the shame, it goes away. Just keep reminding yourself of all the things that will get better now.

Make a list of all the things you will get to do once you get down to your goal weight, things like "ride a horse" or "go for a jog". Anything that motivates you and lifts your spirits :) It will all be worth it in the end.

Yep.  I had the "WTF did I do" feeling at five days after surgery.  Now I believe it's the best thing I've ever done.

Hormone dumping is common as we lose weight rapidly.  Prepare for an emotional rollercoaster.  It calms down over time and as you continue to lose weight, you will feel better physically and mentally.  Hang in there

It will pass, and as your weight drops and your shape changes and all the NSV's begin to happen - you will never look back.

Could you tell me what NSV stands for? I see it around this forum a lot but can't figure it out!

NSV = Non-Scale Victory.  Any success which isn't tied to a number on the scale.

Non Scale Victory - all the wonderful things you experience along the way besides the numbers on the scale. Buying new, smaller clothes, fitting comfortably in airplane seats, etc.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to those things!
