After surgery, and to this day, I drink a Premier Protein chocolate shake for breakfast. I understand that some plans want to wean you off protein shakes, but mine does not.

It's 30 grams of protein and 160 calories. If you're struggling to get in your protein each day, this is an option.

Syntrax nectar has some good kool aid kind of flavors. I liked the kiwi strawberry mixed with crystal lite

Hi,

I am three weeks out and I know what you mean about the "feeling full" and I have described it to family - it's like a test tube that just gets filled up but you just feel like there is no more room.

I have about a 20-30 minute commute to the office so I use that time in the morning to drink water or a protein shake and going home the same.. I find I can usually get down about 10-16oz of water. Depending.

I am hitting about 66gm of protein right now at about 500 calories but the thought of going up to 90 is daunting so I am with you. The only way I see it is incorporating one more shake. I do have the added disadvantage that I don't like meat but will eat fish. So I eat packets of tuna fish alot and incorporate tofu in any where I can.

Greek yogurt as mentioned is also a very good option.

I am a few weeks behind ya.. My doctor has given me the same targets long term as well..

Good Luck and congrats on weight loss.

I usually drink one or two of these as part of my 64oz water goal

I get them locally for about $2.00 a bottle.

It helps me meet my daily protein goal.

I also just discovered, Chocolate Cherry Inspire in Coconut Milk.  Makes a nice Protein drink for a meal or snack.

Tuesday is my weigh-in day... I am hoping to be under the 250 pound mark.

But other than that, my blood sugars have been rock on target. and I am off all insulin... YEA!

Guys I have a question;

Is that amount of water in the shake will count into the total amout of water we supposed to drink everyday???

My surgeon explained to me that protein shakes and other liquids consumed during the day do count toward the 64 oz of fluid daily that he recommends. I'm struggling with the same issues in this post though. He told me 64 oz of fluid, 100 g protein daily. For real?  I'm lucky to get 70 g of protein so far. I'm 2.5 weeks out, but good law. I feel like there's no way I can get that much stuff through my system every day.

On my way back to being me.

When I had my surgery in August I was told that I needed 57-85 grams of protein a day, which is pretty easy to accomplish on a daily basis.  Some days I will still drink a Premier shake to get a little extra, but most days I don't need anything but what I eat.

Dr. Vuong, who has written several books on VSG says that post-ops don't need as much protein as most nutritionists say we should get.  He recommends 45grams or more.
