Lulu,

You are not even a month out and lost 12 pounds, and that is just fine! Consider the percentage of your EWL that you have lost, and I bet you will find it is significant. Since you started at 194 you are a lightweight, so you will not see those huge numbers of 30+ pounds off in month 1. If you look at the super heavyweights percentage of EWL lost in the first month it tends to be similar to the lightweights.  More importantly though, try not to compare to others. Just stay on plan and you will get there!

I was 60 when I had the surgery...have lost over 125% of my excess body weight (reached that at a year after surgery).  I have been on thyroid meds for almost 35 years and am still on them after surgery!  Weight loss was slow, but steady and I am more than thankful that I had it done!  Best of luck to you!

Wooooow congratulations

can I ask you what plan did you stick too as hypothyroid patient and did you experience that creeping thing and what did you do to stay on track because they always say stick to your plan and I dont think I have a plan right now after 25 days post op

wish all all the best years to come

Yep...I was 52. Started menopause in early forties. At that time my metabolism STOPPPPED!!!  I was gaining 10-15 pounds a year until Imy weight reached 250ish.

I lost 16 pounds on very strict 10 day clear liquid diet (probably water) and could not wait till the pounds disappeared.  I thought after surgery, giving up all carbs and diet soda, the pounds would MELT off......NOT!!!.

I did not journal my weight because I did not want to obsess on it, but I remember 11 pounds the first month and less in the ones to follow. I was so jealous of all the people with 20 plus pounds per month. After 7 or 8 months of very clean eating, I got down to 175 (I'm 5'5') I looked kind of normal. I was wearing 10/12 and feeling healthy.....well.....along comes the carb creep and little by little I gained some back.

It does come off slower and creeps back on faster, but there are soooo many supportive people on this site that will help you through it.

Good luck and listen to all the good advice about staying on plan and take what ever loss you get....the scale is not everything.

Thank you that was really nice to hear. I usually start out my day with an Unjury shake ( my favorite lately is 1 scoop of Unjury unflavored, 4 oz 1% milk, 4 oz coffee , sugar free French vanilla coffee syrup over ice) I try to get between 60-80 grams of protein everyday. Sometimes I can't quite make it, but I try my best. It's always easier when I start out my day with a protein shake. I have mostly meat and a few bites of veggies. And I admit I have an occasional taco with a corn tortilla( no flour tortillas or any kind of bread products, I get out of control with flour based foods) I also eat 1/4 cup -1/2 cup of beans a couple of times a week, my nut talked me into trying this and I'm still losing weight. Oh and lots of water. Best of luck on your journey.

57 for me.  I've lost nearly 60 pounds since my surgery 4 months ago.  15 pounds a month.  I'm happy about that.

I've been robbed! My grandbaby stole my heart!  She just raised her hands and I surrendered.
