Eating more

My surgery was over 3 years ago.  I have been maintaining and doing well, but now I'm finding that I can eat more and more. It seems like my stomach stretched. I don't have the same full feeling as I did before. When I was full that was it, I couldn't eat. It's not the same anymore. Advice appreciated from any veterans going through this.

Your sleeve capacity does increase over time as things heal up and such.  This is completely normal.

You can also eat a greater volume if you're eating "slider foods" like carbs. If you stick to dense protein first and foremost, you'll still have more restriction than you did before surgery.

I would get an upper GI barium swallow to see if your sleeve stretched. I noticed a huge increase in the amount of food I could eat, had an upper GI which confirmed that my sleeve stretched.  I have decided to revise to the DS since I need to fix the sleeve  and never got to a normal BMI with the sleeve.

The VSG is NOT a standardized procedure and all sleeves are not created equal.

Eventual capacity can range from about 3oz. to well over 16oz.

The larger the initial sized sleeve, more stretchy tissue is retained.

Sure, it all comes down to what we put into the mouth.

But who has it easier, the one who has more restriction or the one the one who has less restriction.

I would get back to some basics and eat fixed/measured amounts of food that is in your caloric balance and get in touch with what satisfied feels like vs. full.

Hope this helps.
