Hi I live in socal and I have kaiser as my insurance. I'm scheduled to go to their option orientation class in a week. Does this mean I'm in wls program already or do I need another referral?  I know it takes 6 to 8 months but I want to make sure I'm on track. Thanks so much!

It's a little different in the Nor Cal Kaiser system, but I believe you have to complete the orientation, schedule an appointment with the Bariatrics department and then get approval for the WLS program by the Kaiser Bariatrics team.

It actually varies by location but in LA, I think once I got the referral from my doc, I went to an orientation and things just happened from there. I had to wait a good 2 months or something to start the classes. It's been so long it's hard to remember exactly.
