Protein Shakes
Have you tried different kinds and flavors? Have you tried extracts or s.f. syrups to change up the taste?
I've recently gotten some torani's s.f. syrups (salted caramel, s'mores and almond roca) here are all their flavors torani sf syrups
I alternate between shakes and mixing protein powder in fage total. Mixing the powder into fage makes a pudding type treat.. it's a nice change of pace.
You can always just use chicken broth and unflavored protein powder if you don't like the sweetness of protien drinks. I took to premier chocolate protien shake because it taste like chocolate milk. There are plenty of ways to get your protien in without shakes. Sf chocolate pudding with unflavored protien mixed in etc....

I found I couldn't tolerate the sweet protein shakes after surgery. So I relied on chicken broth with unflavored protein powder for my first few months. I'd put unflavored protein powder into anything I could stir - sugar-free jello, sugar-free, fat-free puddings, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. I was able to make my protein number with no protein shakes.
Good luck,
Carol

I have a coffee protein drink daily. Its 3tbs of half and half, the large cup of coffee brewed from a keruig..i brew over a bit of ice because you can't add protein powder to hot liquids, splenda, and a scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use pure protein natural whey). I blend and then pour over ice. Tastes like an iced latte. So good! I sometimes use chocolate powder to make more of a mocha taste.
What stage are you in? Is it a necessity for you to have shake? I don't do shakes, I consume all my protein thru actual food.
When I did shakes I did premier protein chocolate and vanilla.

I was just going to ask the same thing. I HAAATED the taste of any shakes due to my aversion to anything sweet, and tried to get off them ASAP. It was also so much more satisfying to get my protein from food - feeling less deprived.
If you must be on shakes for the current stage you're in, I could bear doing an iced coffee shake with protein powder, like someone else suggested. I also made sugar-free pudding with protein powder and that wasn't completely awful.

Week 5 was when I thought I would gag if I had another shake.... the coffee flavored ones saved me. Click and Fit Frappe Mocha are both good, or I would put a little instant coffee and a little extra sweetener into the Premier Protein. I have found your tastebuds change regularly in the beginning with what you can tolerate.
The Inspire brand Protein Powders on Bariatriceating.com go down pretty easy, have interesting flavors and are meant to mixed in only 6oz liquid I think... so not a huge glass to get down.

Add a tablespoon of sugar free Jello pudding to your shake. It helps with the taste.
For breakfast, I have a Premier Protein RTD chocolate shake daily with a shot of Miralax. I don't have any problems getting it down, but I remember how boring shakes were immediately after surgery when they were your only option.
