My surgery weight was 267.  I'm 15 months out now.  I eat all the protein I can without going over 800 calories.  TONS of water!  I honestly don't exercise much.  I know I should.  But, I'm actually a bit lazy.  I DO try and get in, at least, a mile or two of walking a day.  My goal is set at 140.  But, we'll see if I want to go lower once I get there.  Good Luuck to you on YOUR journey!!

My stats are similar...I ended up with an RNY, but I don't believe it's the surgery that will dictate your weight loss, it's you being willing to do it!  I got under my goal in less than a year by listening to the advice of the vets on this board.  You can do this.

You certainly can lose 100% of your excess weight with the sleeve.  I did and lots of other sleevers have.   Go through and look at the posts of others. Your doctor is telling you what the average expectation is. Resolve to be above average. Tell him you want it all off.  I am 5'4" and was 247. Got down to 117 and am now about 128 after 6 years. You gotta really want this and make up your mind to get the most from it.  And in my humble opinion, the vsg is the better surgery in the long run than the bypass.  gl.  diane s

One more question! How old are you?

Hi, well I am now 64 years old. Was 58 at surgery. Not sure I would have done this at age 30 (didn't exist anyway) but I was ready to let go of food as such an important part of my life. That was my real change. It took several months for me to get comfortable with this. Before surgery I sometimes became fearful of what I would do if I craved a boatload of chocolate.  Turned out to not be a problem.  I thought about how many nice meals I had had in fancy places and how I had eaten probably a ton of m and ms in my life. It was ok to let go of it.  Put that stuff behind me and moved on. Turns out there is plenty of healthy good stuff to eat and pigging out no longer appeals to me. Not that I don't do an occasional treat but during the weight loss phase its so important to change your habits and your thinking about food.  Focus on other stuff in life and all the fun you can have as skinny.  Food becomes less valuable.    Think about it,  Diane s

You are absolutely right. My boys deserve a fun, active, healthy mom. I want it for myself as well! Congratulations for doing so well!
