Am I eating too much? Nutritionist says no, but I wonder

That is a good point. I do find myself full after 3 ounces of protein, even sometimes before, which is why I told my nutritionist there was no way I could eat 1k-1200 calories a day! :P  I am going to just keep on keeping on, eat my 650 or so calories a day, and focus on drinking more water. No one has ever gained weight by not eating enough :P

I beg to differ with you about your last statement. I am 6 weeks out and for the past week have eaten between 411 to 638 and I gained 6 pounds this week.

Sorry...... without using the word impossible, lets say improbable that you gained 6lbs. of body fat.

Your in an early stage stall, very common between 2-6 weeks out.

6lbs. has to be water. 1 gallon of water is about 8lbs.

Sorry, but it is absolutely, positively impossible to gain on 411 to 638 calories. It just isn't.

Weight goes up and down. But what matters is how much fat you have. But fat is much harder to measure. If you've been eating that few calories, you've burned fat. It will show up on the scale. Just not every day, or even every week.

Water retention can do this- not the same thing as gaining fat. My weight can drop literally 5 pounds over night- all fluid. It can can 5 pounds over a couple of days as well, particularly if my salt or sugar intake is higher.

How absolutely certain are you that you've had that amount of calories? Have you weighed your food on a scale and counted Every Single Thing you've had, including things like ketchup and bits you've nibbled while cooking?

Or are you estimating and getting general calorie numbers from the Internet?

Got it :) I was going to say that I track my calories to the T. I love MFP and my food scale. Although my other scale and I are not on speaking terms right now :P

As has been said, you are currently eating enough calories and should not increase them until you get to goal. Focus on protein, no worries about anything else for now, so use your limited capacity for protein.  The goal is to eat as much protein for the least amount of calories. For me, I stopped eating when I had eaten about 80 grams of protein, which usually took me to around 600 calories daily.
