gallbladder out!

It has been a while since I was on but thought I would share my experience. I had vsg surgery on July 30th 2014 and have lost a total of over 190 pounds. I was able to lose 80 pounds prior to my surgery, and an additional 110 since. I have been maintaining my current weight of 223 now for almost two years in May. I started this journey weighing in at over 400 pounds and can't tell you how great I feel today. On Wed. I needed to have my gallbladder out and this is common to weight loss surgery patience. I am amazed at how well I feel just two days post-op. I did not take any pain meds today and was able to walk over 2 miles. It is hard for me to sit still since losing the weight and exercise has been my rock in maintaining my weight. I feel being healthier going in this surgery has sure helped me tremendously post-op.

That is great, Great work!! My surgery was last wed.How did you know you had gallbladder issues? They pit me on a medication to prevent gallstones, but I have been having some pretty bad stomach pains last 2 days and starting to get concerned

Anyway,  great job on all your success , I love hearing these stories

I knew about the gallbladder issue when I was learning about the surgery and life after. I think I was so in tune with my body that when I started feeling pains I surmised that is what it might be. I had a gallbladder attack in Dec. and was hospitalized for a few days. I did not have stones but the ultra sound did show inflammation of the bladder. My other symptoms included being nauseas after eating or drinking anything. A bloating feeling and pain in my upper back were all symptoms that pointed to this. Good luck.

What a great success story.  I am so happy that your gall bladder surgery went so well.  It is a testament to your new health and energy.  Great job working that sleeve.

Thanks Carol, I am on track to walk 5 miles today. I do 1 mile walks a few times a day. All this just 4 days out of surgery.

Just wanted to post a warning that Karik was kind enough to alert me to. The first 6 weeks out was a hot mess and I was losing weight. But now, I am craving carbs and am having trouble with eating my normal vsg diet. I did also have a hernia repair at the same time so perhaps that is part of why the proteins from meat are more of an issue, but the only thing my system seems to want is carbs. If I eat anything with any kind of fat content I pay the price. I also went from no appetite to constantly wanting to eat, and I am sure that at least in part that is due to the much much higher carb levels I have been eating. I have already gained about 5 pounds and that was just over the last couple of weeks. Tread carefully!
