Quick question on hair loss experience. I had my surgery on 10-12 and until about 3 weeks ago didn't have any problems. Now I notice I am losing hair at a fast rate. I heard this was a possible side effect, but am wondering what causes it?

Google "telogen effluvium."  That'll explain it.  Nothing for you to do other than keep your protein up and wait for it to grow back in!

I'm 7 months out and started to use Collagen powder by Great Lakes.... Green can.  So far so good. I found and article a while back and thought what the heck.  Got from Amazon.

Seems to be working

My surgery was in August. My hair is literally falling out in clumps! I have been taking a hair skin and nails formula vitamin, and it's growing quickly. I'm sure it was growing anyway, but seems my nails are really growing fast.  I hope the falling out slows down and the growing speeds up?

I take 2 biotin pills a day and I have no problems with hair loss!

Biotin helps hair grow back, but won't keep it from falling out.

Most people see hair loss starting around month 3 or 4. It's very possible that yours hasn't "hit" yet.

My hair loss started at 3-1/2 months.

Biotin worked great for me, if I wanted to have a full facial beard.  Did nothing to stop the loss of hair from my head.

I'm with you. I haven't had any hair loss at all, and I'm over 8 months out. Whether it's luck, genetics, the daily biotin, or the 70-100g of protein I've been getting daily since Day 1, post-op, I consider myself lucky and feel the biotin can't be hurting.

I'm with ya!  Surgery in early October and my already very thin, sparse hair started falling out about 3 weeks ago.  I'm taking biotin and trying to get all my protein in everyday but am just trying not to worry about it.  Still take the weight and hair loss over fat and hairy any day!
