Hi all me again.  I'm looking for some insight from anyone that may have had the VSG with the Kane Center.  I have chosen this group and so far and I to say I am happy with it so far.  I just received my approval from my insurance company so the only thing left I need to do to get a surgery date is the pre op meeting with the sleep doctors I guess.  I was wondering what is involved wit that process.  I've never had a sleep study, but I do not snore and I never been told that I snore or anything.  If information would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!

My husband and I had ours performed late last year by Dr. Kane.  We were sent to a lung specialist and had to do some testing there.  Nothing too crazy.  My husband has sleep apnea, but they tested me out, not a sleep study, just the breathing tests they make you take as a part of the approval process from Kane's side. There was some other testing too if I recall, abdominal scan in the Hoffman Estates office was required as well.  If you have any other questions, just let me know.

I didn't go to the Kane Center, I'm in New York. I was really nervous about the sleep study, though.  I don't sleep well away from home, and I REALLY didn't want to do it. However, they had a kit that could be sent home with me, which I turned back in the next day for them to read the results. Easy-peasy.

The bad part of it was that it took them so long to make the follow up appointments, it delayed everything. It turns out that was a good thing anyway, as I had some work to do on my thinking (read: therapy) before I was really and truly ready.
