Has anyone tried protein chips?  Are they any good or just junk food?

Quest protein chips are a staple for us, BBQ and Sour Cream/Onion - but as an occasional protein snack. Very low in carbs and you get that snacky cruch you sometimes crave.  "Real" food is always best and these chips are pricey so keep that in mind too.

I don't know if you have tried them yet, but I have and they were quite possibly among the nastiest things I've ever eaten. I just couldn't...if I liked them, id have them as an occasional snack.

Agreed. I tried them to. Once was enough.

I do know people who LOVE them, though. All a matter of taste...

I like them as a snack.  They are not real potato chips and taste like protein chips.  I still enjoy them.

I agree with Alison. They are...gross. I love crunchy, salty, but sheesh, the aftertaste on those things was horrid, and when you factor in the price? NOPE.

Eat bacon instead.

I like the Ip's egg white chips better than the Quest protein chips. The Quest ones don't taste quite right. I find the Ip's at Whole Foods and I think I've seen them at the Vitamin Shoppe. Crunchy chickpeas are good too. Some people roast their own, but Saffron Road has some good flavors. They're a nice crunch.

I have not read the responses, but I expect I will be in the minority on this one. I did eat them during the weight loss phase, and into maintainance as well. (Kays Naturals brand). It met my protein ration (1 gram of protein to 10 calories) and made for a great snack at school. But, it had to be managed. I found that I had to buy the individually packaged version- not the larger box. I still have to answer the question of "how many chips/cookies would you normally eat?" with... "Well, I don't know- how many are in the package?"  So, preportioned size was a must. Then, only 1 per day and 3 or less per week. You should also know that these are not triggery for me- I was not a big chip eater even at my heaviest. These were just a different way to get some protein in that worked in a classroom setting.
