Oh I am going to have to try your friends remedy and see how that works because that's where it is at the worst! Thanks for the info :)

Walking as much as possibly really helped me.  I also kind of stretched and rolled my shoulders while I walked. I envisioned me moving the joints etc...out of the way so the gas could come out.  Don't know if that really helped or not but I can tell you I only had gas pains the day after surgery then they were gone.  Good luck!!

I think I need to just start making laps around my block and see if that helps.

I truly believe walking helped me to get rid of the gas quickly! I would walk as much as you can! I'm not sure how the weather is where you live right now, but if I would get outside and walk, walk, walk.

Today is the first day it's warmer and nice out so I could go outside and walk. I just came back from an 1 1/2 stroll through Target though. It that doesn't help the gas at least the shopping therapy will

Retail therapy helps! ;) I hope you're feeling better soon!

Did you say 5 days? You just had major surgery, being in pain & feeling like crap is gonna be with you for some time. Yeah its probably gas, but its more probable that your body is pissed that it got surgery & is letting you know how ticked off it is.

Ditto pretty much what others have said, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk. It does get better eventually.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel

I know it's only been 5 days and I'm sure my body is super pissed at me. I guess I just didn't expect this and it's just miserable. I'm praying for the day it gets better....but I do need to give it an eviction notice by Sunday since I have to go back to work on Monday lol.

Just 'cause your doctor says the pain is "normal" doesn't mean you should have to suffer through it without any help. Do you have any liquid pain medicine left from the hospital? If so, use it judiciously (don't drive, etc.). If you don't have anything, call your doc and ask if liquid Tylenol is okay. These doctors! I wish they could walk in our shoes for the first post-op week. I bet they wouldn't let themselves suffer, however "normal" the pain.
