How much of me will the doctor see? :P

Okay, this is going to be a strange question, but I have to ask. I am very modest, do not like to show much skin, etc. How much of me is the surgeon going to see? Am I only going to be wearing a gown and nothing under it? Sorry to ask, I know it sounds weird, but it makes me nervous to not at least have undies on lol

Good morning!  I was completely void of anything under my gown.  I assure you that when you are prepping for surgery there is so much going on and so many people bustling around you getting you prepped that you won't have time to worry about much.  At least that is how it was for me.  Also remember, the surgeon and his/her team do this everyday and have seen much more (and much worse I'm sure!) than what you are hesitant to show.  I'm sure they won't even bat an eye.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your surgeon will see your entire front half, at least from the waistline up. Trust me, your surgeon will not care, neither will anyone else in the OR. You will be knocked out and won't have to be awake when they see you though! They will not say anything to you, before or after, about your body's appearance and you can all pretend it never happened.

Oh, and don't apologize for asking what you may think are silly questions.  They aren't silly if they are on your mind!  3 months ago I probably drove everyone nuts with all of my "silly" questions.    Everyone here is so helpful and patient to those new to the process.

I thought of this too.  They make you strip down to nothing but give you a gown.  I figure they've seen it all.  Trust me, you will not care once you wake up.

I was afraid of that lol Oh well, at least now I know. At least its only the waist up, not a full frontal lol

They give you a large size gown, and they gave me a warm blanket to cover up. You can't keep your undies on but trust me, when you wake up you won't care!

They'll keep you covered as long as you're conscious.  Once you're out, figure full nudity...but you won't be aware of it and no one is going to talk to you about it.  They've seen it all.

In the OR they usually place a catheter in you to drain your urine, and then drape the surgical site with sterile drapes. how much of you the surgeon actually sees I don't know, depends during what part of the process he/she walks in the room! but seriously, in healthcare, we see it all so seriously don't worry about it too much.

and let me clarify my own comment, that all happens after you're asleep! all you'll remember of the operating room is getting in there and moving onto the table, after that you're out as a light ;)
