Eating slowly?
Thanks everyone,
Glad to know I am not the only one that eats a little quicker than the recommended. I measure everything and stop if I feel full. Only once in 4 1/2 months have I felt like I have eaten too much and that wasn't a speed thing, it was a "this tastes great and I can get a bit more in". What a huge mistake. Thanks to everyone for the support and input!!
I am allowed to eat 4 ounces in 30 minutes... I divide my plate into 3 sections. 10 minutes per section.
I CAN eat faster than that, but I work at not doing that. It's a bad habit that can easily get worse. Remember being able to eat nearly 3000 calories in less than 10 minutes?
I don't want to go back to that. I'm very aware that I could.

I still eat pretty quickly even though I know I'm not supposed to. I wonder if the purpose of us eating slowly is so that our stomachs have time to signal our brains that we're satisfied and should stop eating (??). I know that's the rationale for doing it for non-WLS folks. I do measure my food out, though, and don't eat any more than what I've measured out even if I'm still hungry. I know that if I wait 15 or 20 minutes, I won't be hungry anymore. So I guess that accomplishes the same thing - as long as you have enough control to wait it out and not cave to the hunger pangs.
